The project was to create one 4–page feature story (two spreads). We were to choose
content expressing a personal interest or area of expertise.A topic that I’ve wanted to use for quite some time now is figure skating. I started skating when I was 4 years old and it has played a huge role in my life. It is also a passion of mine and I think the topic works quite well for this particular assignment.

Mirai Nagasu was the first US woman to land a triple axel in the Olympics in 2018 and she is the third woman ever to land one at the Olympics. The next jump to land after a triple axel would be a quad. In the past, quads were not even a thought but now it has become a possibility and a make or break if you want to win a gold medal. I used an article that Angela Bao wrote based off of an interview with Mirai which discusses her struggles, triumphs, and how she is breaking barriers both on and off the ice.
